Three big events have so far been held at Longmead during this largely glorious spring and early summer.
First up was the Southern Counties East Football League Cup Final between Whitstable Town and Tunbridge Wells on 7th May. With a crowd of nearly 800 and the sun shining, everyone, even the losing Wells supporters, seemed to enjoy themselves. Many stayed on for the excellent Skatonics performance in the Marquee that evening.
The West Kent Garden Show on the weekend of 12/13th May had 2,700 visitors across the two days. The Saturday was a rather drizzly affair but the sun came out on the Sunday and boosted attendance.
AngelFest7, one of the most successful since the event began in 2012, was visited by 1,800 beer and music lovers over the three days (25/26/27th May) and apart from a storm of biblical proportions late on Saturday, the sun shone allowing many to spill out on to the adjacent training ground and creating a real family atmosphere.
Said Angels Chair Dave Netherstreet: “These Events simply don’t happen by themselves. Their success is because of the very hard work of the organisers and volunteers who give of their time freely before, during and after the events. I thank all of them and the thousands who turned up to give their support.”
