Masonic Lodge donates £1,000 to Football Fightback

By Jim Rowe

Guarantees continuation of screenings

The club was delighted to learn that the United Industrious Masonic Lodge based in Canterbury has donated £1,000 to our Football Fightback Fund that provides free heart screening in West Kent facilitated by the charity CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young).

Former director and long time supporter Roger Maddams who runs the Football Fightback initiative on behalf of Tonbridge Angels spoke at an event in Canterbury representing CRY where also present were representatives from the Lodge resulting in their very generous donation.

At the recent screening held at Longmead 10 persons were identified as needing further review so potentially further young lives have been saved. Over 1,100 screenings have taken place since Football Fightback was launched four years ago.

Roger said : “This generous donation will guarantee that the screenings can continue for young people therefore potentially avoiding the heartbreak of premature death through cardiac issues.”
