Up There Cazaly! Part Two covering the club’s second season 1949/50 is now online. Just click on the pdf attachment below
The season was blighted by an off-the-field dispute between Tonbridge and the Angel Ground’s owners, Tonbridge Urban District Council. I have to admit the transcript from the Council is a bit heavy going (I know because I have typed it, read it and re-read it!) but I felt that for historical context it needed to be reproduced.
Unfortunately, the 1950 microfilm at Tonbridge Library from which the Tonbridge Free Press reports are gathered has gone out for repair. I have delayed publishing this issue for a fortnight in the hope that it would be returned and the appointment of Harry Curtis as manager could be covered but it has not and the prospect of the reel returning soon doesn’t seem likely. So the page featuring Curtis is at present a “holding page” with the text a straight lift from Wikipedia that will be replaced as and when I can obtain the relevant material.
