U13s crash out of Kent Cup sem-final
Deserved win for Thamesview
Angels went out of their second semi-final this year losing 5-2 to a strong Thamesview side. Having beaten Thamesview from the Southern division earlier in the season in the League Cup on penalties Angels knew they would have a tough tie and got off to the perfect start. George Walker scoring within the first few minutes accelerating past two defenders, avoiding a last gasp lunge and slotting past the keeper. The visitors were shocked and Angels took the game to Thamesview for the first 20 minutes dominating possession and forcing a number of corners, Billy Kent forcing a great save from the keeper and the ball agonisingly creeping to the line but the keeper scrambling to dive on the ball. Tyrie putting the ball in the net from the edge of the area but the whistle having just gone for a foul, unfortunately Angels couldn’t get the second goal while they were on top and Thamesview equalising just before half time. The back four had looked comfortable, Angels knowing the Thamesview side were physical and Joe Rowe coming in to centre back and putting in a man of the match performance with Toby Kent.
Angels were struggling to the knock the ball around, the pitch was hard work but the usual Angels passing and switching of play was not apparent. Thamesview went ahead after about 10 mins in the second half and whilst Angels looked dangerous on the break Thamesview were now dominant. Thamesview added a third but there was still 10 minutes left when Billy Kent broke through and forced a great save from the keeper but a fourth goal followed when goal keeper Luke O’Grady looked like he could have been fouled and dropped the ball for Thamesview to force over. Angels pushed forward to try and get back in the game but were caught by a fifth goal that looked off side. Angels did manage to get a second goal Joe Tyrie curling in a free kick with a few minutes left but it was not Angels day and the visitors deserved their victory and good luck to them in the final.
