Defeat for U13s against Welling
....but encouraging signs
Report from Dom Welsh
Angels turned up to Welling expecting a positive response and a positive result.
After a great session in the week the boys were confident of playing their own game to overcome Welling.
However Welling came out the traps very quickly, scoring two early goals which knocked the stuffing out of the Angles. 2-0 down at HT the Angels were still in with a shout.
A strange second half with Angels beginning to grow into game. The referee managed to brandish 3 yellow cards between the two sides. With on one deserved of a card. 3 penalties for Welling. One penalty in our favour. Again , both management teams in agreement only one should have been given.
Credit to the young Blues as they rallied on , AK converted his penalty with ease. And within the last 10 minutes the Angels played some good football.
The task now is to convert the training ground brilliance onto the pitch on a Sunday. A disappointing result and a game we were confident going into. Still a work in progress. Having played Glebe, Sevenoaks , Ebbsfleet and Welling already, the fixtures can only get easier.
However, myself and Callum are very proud of the boys work rate and perseverance throughout. The football will come once the boys find rhythm and momentum. We are not panicking as we have a great side on our hands, but for a new side to compete it was a tough task.
Much more to come from this Angels side!!
