Second successive win for Ladies
Second hat trick for Rebecca Janes
Rebecca Janes emulated the achievement of England international Danielle Carter - who has the remarkable record of two England caps and two hat-tricks - by repeating her debut hat-trick with a second treble against Barming on Sunday.
Angels made two changes to the side that beat Anchorians, one of those in goal with Tracy Edwards replacing Ellie Brett who is now away at university, and Kelly Law in for the injured Abbie Skilton. Barming were an experienced and physically strong side and were a match for Tonbridge throughout a well contested first half. Angels got their noses in front midway through the half, Janes collecting a through-ball from Beth Kemp and side footing past the goalkeeper. Barming had a couple of half-chances to level and finally breached the home defence from a one-on-one, two minutes before the break.
The visitors took the lead on 54 minutes from the penalty spot after a forward was tripped by Leanne Foster, but Tonbridge reacted well and remained patient in their search for a comeback. The crucial goal arrived in the 63rd minute. Rebecca Saxby found space on the right and produced a perfect cross for Kelly Law to volley into the net, for her first goal for the club. Two minutes later Tonbridge were in front, Courtney Smith placing a measured half-volley into the roof of the net from 18 yards out.
From then on it was almost all Angels with a wave of attacks coming from the home side. Janes added her second, then her third, to practically wrap up the win, although Barming would score a third in the final minutes before Smith scored her second, and the Angels' sixth, to wrap up victory.
