Honours even in friendly with Chichester City Development
Angels Ladies began a trio of tough friendlies against Premier Division opposition with a creditable 2-2 draw against Chichester City Development on Sunday. With a number of players still unavailable a small squad of 13 was named for this match but they held their own against a team two divisions higher for the majority of the match.
Top goalscorer Abigail Skilton gave her team the lead in the 26th minute. Her corner was only partially cleared back to her on the wing and Skilton hit a first time shot which caught out the stranded Chichester goalkeeper. The visitors were on level terms eight minutes later when Skye Gould charged down a clearance and converted from a one-on-one position.
Tonbridge regained the lead in the 58th minute. A free kick was floated into the box and Megan Akehurst got the faintest of touches to send it past the goalkeeper. Chichester equalised from their own free kick in the 68th minute, a direct effort from Lauren Ellis squeezing past Edwards at the near post.
Next week another stiff test awaits as Premier Division leaders Parkwood Rangers visit Tonbridge Farm.
