Ladies confirm Runner Up spot in League

Huge achievement in second competitive season
Tonbridge Angels made sure of a top two finish by defeating Castle Colts in their penultimate league game on Sunday. Angels had been beaten by two goals in the reverse fixture the previous week but grabbed the opportunity to enact immediate revenge for the loss.
The hosts made one of their trademark flying starts and were ahead within the opening six minutes for the eighth time this season. Charlotte Coulter and Becky Janes combined to set up Maisie Gibb whose run on goal was timed perfectly and she finished coolly. Gibb returned the favour for Janes on 17 minutes who finished with ease with only the keeper to beat, to double the score.
At this point Tonbridge looked set for a comfortable afternoon but a drinks break somewhat disrupted the rhythm and four minutes before the break Colts reduced the deficit to 2-1 with a goal from Keeley Ashworth. The midfielder repeated her trick of the previous week with a long shot from distance beating Sam Wright in the Angels' goal.
Gibb restored the two-goal advantage 11 minutes into the second half to settle the home nerves and although opportunities to increase the advantage fell to Alex Weston, Jodie Coombes and Flo Anastasiou, the score remained 3-1 to secure the division runners-up spot with a game to spare.
Tonbridge host champions Thamesview next Sunday at Tonbridge Farm (2pm) before the two sides meet again in the Kent Divisional Cup Final on Thursday May 17th at Maidstone United's Gallagher Stadium.
