Tonbridge Angels are still at the start of their journey into Women’s Football – but have already been handed a mouth-watering cup draw away to Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur.
The Angels Ladies will play the Boux Avenue Cup tie at Cheshunt FC’s Theobalds Lane ground, where Tottenham Ladies play their home matches, on Thursday 10th November.
While the Angels benefitted from the luck of the draw, receiving a bye into the Quarter Final, Spurs earned the right to face Tonbridge with a 12-0 win over Whyteleafe in the First Round last Tuesday. The result was typical of the way Tottenham have started the season, as the Premier League South side remain unbeaten with 63 goals scored in their 12 matches.
“We are under no illusions about how tough this draw is”, commented manager Dan Couldridge. “Spurs are ready for Super League football on and off the field. They are the holders of this competition and having seen their performance at Whyteleafe it is easy to see why. This is a great opportunity for our players and they are very much up for the challenge.”
The Ladies will be back on familiar territory this Sunday when they host Castle Colts in a league match.
