Tonbridge Angels Under-14 fielded two sides in the Tonbridge Fiesta tournament, but as joint manager, Dominic Welsh, reports they suffered another difficult day ; it appears that tournament luck isn’t on their side this year!
We had two late withdrawals which left both teams with no substitutes.
Angels Whites were in a difficult group, however they managed to stay unbeaten, winning two and drawing four with no goals conceded from open play, just a penalty in a 1-1 draw. However only scoring four goals proved their downfall with no recognised striker available. Unfortunately our lack of goals meant the Whites did not progress.
Angels Blues started with no subs and in the first game, defender Tom Monaghan picked up a shoulder injury which ruled him out for the majority of the day. They soldiered on with one less player. until a triallist turned up late! They won two , drew one and lost three in a tough group.
Regardless of the outcome, there were positives to take from of the weekend. Both sides played some outstanding football and on another day with some fresh legs it may have gone differently. However some fantastic football was played, implementing the style of play we have worked on this season which has always been the target from the outset in these tournaments.
