Angels win against the Fleet
Promising start to pre-season friendlies
A sound defensive performance earned the Angels this unlikely win against Ebbsfleet United of Vanarama National in the opening pre-season friendly for Steve McKimms side.
The match played in pouring rain provided plenty of entertainment for the 355 crowd sheltering in the stands from the unseasonal weather. As might have been expected Ebbsfleet had plenty of possession but too often were unable to make it count as the Angels defence superbly marshalled by George Beavan refused to panic under pressure.
Whilst the Angels defence may have been the foundation for the win, midfield and attack also played vital roles in constantly snapping at the heels of the opposition and at the same time managing to create some decent passages of play to test out the Fleet defence.
The goals for the Angels came from Andre McColin 29', a Triallist 58' and Dan Thompson 85'
The Fleet scorers were Darren McQueen 61' and Danny Kedwell 75'
