Mckimm given some nice problems

Angels turned in a performance of high intensity at Longmead to overcome near neighbours Tunbridge Wells who compete two levels below their hosts.

Right from the off the home side despite the high temperatures gave notice that this was not going to be an easy afternoon in the sunshine for their visitors. Pity the Wells full backs who had to contend with the excellent combining of James Folkes and Adem Ramadan on the right and Liam Smith and Joe Turner on the left while in the centre Alex Read supported by Tommy Whitnell and Tom Beere gave the central defenders no time on the ball.

The only surprise was that the scoring didn't come earlier taking into account the numerous chances created with perhaps the final cross or pass just slightly overhit or misplaced. That said the movement off the ball was superb and the Wells defenders were finding it increasingly difficult to pick up their markers.

Eventually after 41 minutes the breakthrough came when after some terrific hold up lay from Read, Joe Turner's low shot passed Wells keeper Cameron Hall to his left and nestled into the corner of the net.

On 56 minutes it was effectively gameover for Tunbridge Wells when with Ramadan's assist Craig Stone's shot found its way past a defence that had been pulled every which way. Stone deserved his goal for the unstinting work in the heart of the Angels midfield.

There followed a number of substitutions for the home side but it made little if any difference to the pattern of play. With something to prove trialists 'Bas' and 'Tumba' continued to harry the Wells defenders with more chances created but not quite taken. On 70 minutes Turner showed once again his superb quality when he controlled the ball through a tiring defence to claim his second strike and the third Angels goal of the afternoon.

And that was the way it ended but its given Angels Boss Steve Mckimm some nice problems to have. The trialists on show did their chances no harm and its going to be an interesting few days not least to see who turns out at the next Angels pre-season friendly at Faversham Town on Tuesday 24th July (KO 7;45pm)
