The result went the way of the form book with a relatively comfortable win for the hosts in 5th spot against the visitors in bottom position.
Tonbridge totally dominated the first half and were good value for their 3-0 lead at the break. On 17 minutes a well delivered Luke Allen corner was perfectly met by Tom Phipp with a thumping header that gave Amadou Tangara in the Grays goal no chance.
Following heavy Tonbridge pressure Angels skipper Tom Parkinson was brought down in the area with a penalty award the outcome on 29 minutes. Alex Akrofi duly dispatched the spot kick despite Tangara getting a hand to it and the Angels were 2-0 up. Five minutes later Akrofi grabbed his second goal reacting quickest with a deft header close in following an Allen cross.
Grays improved in the second half and reduced the arrears in the 49th minute through Luke Wilson whose scuffed shot seemed to deceive Tonbridge keeper Anthony Di Bernardo. This gave hope to the away side and Wilson in particular troubled the Tonbridge defence with his powerful runs. On 71 minutes he hit a Tonbridge post with the ball rebounding away from the goal area.
Deep in stoppage time Grays' Barney Williams handled in the area and up stepped substitute Andre McCollin making his return from injury to stroke home Tonbridge's 4th goal from the penalty spot.
