Arguably one of the pick of the ties in the Buildbase FA Trophy 2nd Qualifying Round is that between Dorking Wanderers and Tonbridge Angels.
Wanderers currently sit at the top of Bostik Premier but only by virtue of a superior goal difference of one compared with the Angels. In a sense it couldn’t be closer with both sides containing some of the best players in the league. On that theme one is immediately drawn to Dorking striker Jason Prior while for the Angels, Alex Read certainly knows where the goal is. Between the sticks Slavomir Huk is widely credited for the part he has played in the Wanderers recent successes while the team from Kent have seen their Keeper Jonny Henly often help his side over the line; both men have won the league’s ‘safe hands’ awards this season.
It’s obviously too close to call with any degree of certainty and if the teams are level at the end of 90 minutes then there will need to be a replay at Longmead on Tuesday 13th November KO 7:45pm.
For Angels supporters Meadowbank Football Ground is a new arena to visit which adds to the anticipation of the day. Remember to leave plenty of time to reach Dorking and please come in numbers to support the side and swell the crowd as of course financially the gate receipts are shared to the benefit of all.
See separate news story on this website for details of how to get to Dorking Wanderers.
If you can’t get to Dorking then please come to Longmead to see Chris Wye’s U21 Development side take on Fisher Athletic in the Suburban League South KO 3:00pm - season tickets valid for entry.
