The reserves beat a strong Woking reserves team at Longmead on Saturday. With the formation changing again to reflect the strengths of the available players, the boys did well to adapt to a different shape. It did take time for the team to settle and Woking had the better of the exchanges in the first 30 mins. Louis Lawlor in goal was outstanding all afternoon but particularly resolute in the first half , parrying 3 good efforts, out of danger.
On 30 minutes it was the versatile Dom Welch who ghosted into the box and calmly steered the ball past the Woking keeper. Against the run of play the Angels went in one up at the break.
A hard working pressing style worked well for the reserves and the Visitors slowly saw less and less of the ball as the Angels eventually took control of the game. This was secured in the 75 th minute when substitute Valentine Lawrence, scored a carbon copy of the first goal after a magnificently clipped through pass from Louis Cockley-Stanton.
The home team defended well for the last 10 minutes to see out the game and consciously avoid a repetition of the last home game when a 2 0 lead was conceded late in the game. It was a hard won and ultimately a thoroughly deserved 3 points
