The reserves were never behind in this entertaining game on a cold and cloudy day at Longmead on Saturday.
Utility man Dom Welch was star man for the boys in blue, with an all round performance in several positions on the day.
With many changes from the previous week involving two debutants, the young side settled early against a bigger and older Leatherhead side. It was that man Dom Welsh who playing in the number ten role finished coolly after excellent approach work by Ash Kitzito.
The sides went in with the Angels 1 - 0 to the good although they hadn't really hit a stride.
Leatherhead came out with a strong ambition in the second half and equalised on 53 mins. But after a strong run and excellent finish by Kitzito the Blues were soon in front again. Injuries took their toll in the second half and Leatherhead got themselves back into the game after a free kick was conceded inside 25 yards and they converted the resulting cross.
With Callum Taylor outstanding at centre back and stand in goalkeeper Dan Harris pulling out some great stops, the reserves started to grip the last 10 minutes having withstood the best the visitors could offer. Having moved to left back MoM Dom Welsh beat 3 players on an inside run before sliding a measured pass to substitute Damali Morrison who finished well from 12 yards. The young team showed great maturity in seeing the game out for a well deserved 3 points.
Team selection has not been published for this fixture yet.
